A PAWFECT RESCUE

Help to find a rescue hound to match your house

So you have decided it's time to give a rescue dog a second chance of A Pawfect Life.

  • Which rescue do you go to?

  • How do you choose which fab friend to bring home?

  • How do we introduce your home to our new friend?

  • What do you do if our furry isn't settling?

Any dog requires time and effort to integrate into the family unit however, patience must be given to the rescue as you may have little or no information about their history.  This means their instinctual reactions to situations may be harder to predict.  Additionally, the dog may have been subjected to abuse or unpredictable behaviour from their previous human guardian.  If this is the case, your new found friend may be increasingly wary of you meaning forming a bond will take more time.

Please DO NOT let this put you off.  Bringing a rescue dog into your life can be the most rewarding relationship you have.  There are some old clichés that aren't true.  You ABSOLUTELY CAN teach an old dog new tricks, and breaking through the barrier of previous abuse to form a bond with your pal based on trust is such a special experience.

Check out the blog, I have written about my own rescue experiences and will continue to interview owners of both recues and puppies about their experiences.

What my rescue matching service provides is advice and support throughout your rescue process.

  • I will spend time with you and all the members of the family to understand your lifestyle and routines.

  • I will then talk you through the TYPE(s) of dogs that would match you household.

  • I will then begin the research.

  • I will find a handful of dogs that I feel will be a good match.

  • I can assess your home initially to help you prepare for home check.

  • Finally I will be there with support when you bring your friend home, and for TWO MONTHS post your rescue to ensure that everyone is settling in, and provide advice and help with any teething problems.

A PAWFECT PUPPY

Help to find a puppy for your pad

So it's  puppy that you are after...

  • Which breed should you look for

  • How do you ensure the breeder is genuine (not a puppy mill)

  • How do you ensure the breeder is a GOOD breeder? (following correct biological breeding guidelines)

  • How to pick which pup to bring home

  • How do you introduce your puppy to your home?

There is a belief that getting a puppy means that you are "getting a blank canvas" and to a certain extent this is true.  Getting a puppy in a massive commitment as raising a well balance and happy hound isn't as simple as toilet training and getting your puppy to come when called.

Puppies (much like their tiny hooman counterparts) require a much different routine, and environment than their adult selves.  It is important to socialise your puppy, but did you realise that over exposing your puppy to environments or situations can have a negative effect on them?  This is where I come in!

  • I will spend time with you and all the members of the family to understand your lifestyle and routines.

  • I will then talk you through the BREED(s) of dogs that would match your household.

  • Then the research begins!!

  • I will find a handful of breeders that I feel will be a good match.

  • I will teach you what to look for in a puppy and if you wish, come with you to help you choose.

  • Finally I will be there with support when you bring your friend home, and for the next TWO MONTHS to ensure that everyone is settling in, and provide advice and help with any teething problems.
